2026 Decision Guide

This document outlines the enrollment period and important information regarding tobacco-free premium discounts and changes for the Ball State University retirees' health benefits in 2026.

If you do not take any action during Open Enrollment you will lose your tobacco-free premium discount beginning January 1, 2026. This is a substantial benefit/cost savings offered to Ball State University retirees who are, and remain, tobacco-free. BENEFIT NEWS AND CHANGES FOR 2026 Tobacco-Free Premium Discount Employees must complete the 2026 Tobacco-Free Premium Discount Affidavit in order to maintain the discount beginning January 1, 2026. You can complete the Tobacco-Free Premium Discount Affidavit online during Open Enrollment at www. bsu.edu/payroll or via the paper form enclosed in this packet. The Tobacco-Free Premium Discount will remain at $900 for 2026 ($75/month). If you do not recertify your tobacco-free status during Open Enrollment you will lose your tobacco-free premium discount beginning January 1, 2026. If you would like information on tobacco cessation programs, please contact Working Well at 765-285-9355. The 2026 Benefits Open Enrollment The 2026 Open Enrollment period is scheduled for October 22, 2025, through November 6, 2025. Your needs change over time, which is why it is important for you to review the information provided during the Open Enrollment period.
