TIPS FOR A HEALTHY Fill half your plate with nonstarchy vegetables and enjoy your favorite dishes in moderation. Start your meal with fiber (veggies) and protein before eating carbs. Stay hydrated with calorie-free drinks like water. Start your day with some movement. Better yet, make it a family affair! Go on a post-meal walk. Get up and move during commercial breaks while watching the parade or football. Pause for a breathing exercise if you are feeling stressed. Practice gratitude. Think of 1-2 things you are thankful for. Take time to unplug from work during the holiday. If you are traveling, bring your own sleep essentials. Drink alcohol in moderation as this can disrupt your sleep quality. Close the kitchen at least 2 hours before your planned bedtime. Don’t forget to take your medications at appropriate times. Don’t ignore signs and symptoms if you don’t feel well. Check your blood sugar and/or blood pressure and be aware of symptoms for both high and low levels.
