2 EMPLOYEE POLICIES Equal Employment Opportunity (School Board Policy 3122/4122) HCCSC will recruit, hire, train and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age (except where sex or age is a bonafide occupational qualification as defined by law) , sexual orientation, or physical/mental disability (except where the disability prevents the individual from being able to perform the essential functions of the job and cannot be reasonably accommodated in full compliance with the law) , or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. HCCSC will make employment decisions so as to further the principle of equal employment opportunity. HCC SC will ensure that promotion decisions are in accord with principle of equal employment opportunity by imposing only valid and nondiscriminatory requirements for promotional opportunities. HCCSC will also work to provide that all employment decisions and actions, including but not limited to, compensation, benefits, transfers , promotions, layoffs, returns from layoff, terminations, HCCSC sponsored training, education and social and recreational programs, will be administered without regard to race, col or, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. ADA Prohibition Against Disability Discrimination in Employment (School Board Policy 3123/4123 Section 504 ) The Board of School Trustees prohibits discrimination against any employee or applicant based upon his/her disability. As such, the Board will not engage in employment practices or adopt policies that discriminate based on disability, or otherwise discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities regarding job application procedures, the hiring, advancement or discharge of employees, employee compensation, job training, or other terms, conditions and privileges of employment. The Board further will not limit, segregate, or classify applicants or employees i n any way that adversely affects their opportunities or status because of disability. Additionally, the Board will not participate in any contractual or other relationships that have the effect of subjecting qualified individuals with disabilities who are applicants or employees to discrimination based on disability. Anti -Harassment (School Board Policy 3362/ 4362) HCCSC is committed to maintaining an educational and work environment, which is free from all forms of unlawful harassment, including sexual harassment. This commitment applies to all HCCSC operations, programs and activities. All students, administrators, teachers and staff share responsibility for avoiding, discouraging, and repor ting any form of unlawful harassment. This applies to conduct occurring on school property or at another location if such conduct occurs during an activity sponsored by HCCSC. Policy can be viewed on the corporation website. HCCSC will enforce its prohibition against harassment based on sex, race, color, national origin, religion, disability or any other unlawful basis, and encourages those within the HCCSC community as well as third parties who feel aggrieved to seek assistan ce to rectify the problem.
